CONCEPT
"American Vintage Cut&Sew Made in Japan"
"Emerging shortly after WWII, the 'PACK TEE' has long been a staple in American life, serving as both workwear and a gentleman's undershirt.
WASEW's 'PACK TEE' reimagines this classic garment, reinterpreting the fashion culture nurtured by the good old days of America through Japanese sensibilities and craftsmanship."
TEXTILE
"Vintage Cotton"
It is not vintage-like-style, we sought to create "the real vintage T-shirts".
We achieved this by reviving time-honored manufacturing techniques from Wakayama in Japan, a region steeped in textile heritage. Rather than pursuing excessive qualities in this vintage cotton, we focused on capturing the essence of everyday life from that era when it's invented. Perhaps it was inevitable that we would prioritize comfort as an undershirt and opacity to prevent sweat from showing through.

KNITTING
"Japanese Loop Wheel"
The 'Japanese loopwheel called Tsuriami', said to have originated with the introduction of Swiss-made knitting machines to Wakayama in the early 20th century, is still in use today, albeit after countless modifications and repairs.
Employing these antiquated machines, we meticulously recreate the authentic textures of the past. The fabric, knitted at a leisurely pace, naturally drapes under its own weight, minimizing strain on the threads. This is the very essence behind the gentle, 'air-knit' feel that has long been cherished by Wakayama artisans.
However, in today's rapidly changing industrial landscape, maintaining such traditional production methods has become increasingly challenging. Coupled with the issue of finding successors, the future of this craft remains uncertain.
SEWING
"ALL MADE IN JAPAN"
The transformation of the industrial landscape has not spared the garment industry. In recent years, it has become increasingly challenging to find domestic sewing factories capable of handling the intricacies of tubular fabrics.
For our PACK TEE, crafted with a seamless tubular construction, this reliance on domestic expertise was paramount. Therefore, we remain committed to conducting the entire production process, from fabric to sewing, within Japan.
CUT and SEW
"THE PACK TEE"
Wearing a Cut and Sew is an integral part of everyday life. It's with this understanding that we've crafted the PACK TEE, a garment designed to become more comfortable and familiar the more it's worn. We've revived the PACK TEE, a cornerstone of American street culture born from everyday life, using vintage knitting machines from far-off Japan. This is a PACK T-shirt steeped in romance.
